He is a professor of theoretical physics at the University of Surrey, where he also holds a chair in the Public Engagement in Science. His research focuses on quantum mechanics and its applications in biology and cosmology. He is well-known for hosting science programs on the BBC and writing numerous books on physics and the history of science.
