Nicolaus Copernicus

Nicolaus Copernicus (1473–1543) was a Renaissance-era polymath, mathematician, and astronomer who formulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than Earth at the center. This heliocentric theory is considered one of the most important events in the history of science, triggering the Copernican Revolution and fundamentally changing our understanding of the cosmos.
