Cheyenne is a supercomputer that operated at the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center from 2016 to 2023. Built by SGI, it featured a peak performance of 5.34 petaflops and was used extensively for atmospheric and geosciences research. It consists of 28 racks of SGI ICE XA modules with over 145,000 Intel Xeon processor cores and 313 TB of total memory. It was retired due to maintenance costs and cooling system issues.
