On October 28, 2026, UK tech outlet Overclock3D (OC3D) reported that the price of the PNY GeForce RTX 5080 Triple Fan had risen about 50% compared with October of the previous year. However, when we checked the product page at UK retailer Overclockers UK for this article, the card was listed at £1,499.99 including VAT, £60 above the price OC3D reported.

The roughly 50% figure, however, is not an average price increase for the RTX 5080 as a whole. It compares the past price of one specific PNY product with its later prices. To understand how much prices have actually risen, it is necessary to distinguish between the reported price history and the current retail price.

UK price of the PNY RTX 5080 up about 56% in a year

According to OC3D, the PNY RTX 5080 Triple Fan went from £959.99 in October 2025 to £1,169.99 in July 2026, and reached £1,439.99 as of October 28. That is an increase of £480 from the previous October, or about 50%. The price we confirmed at Overclockers UK is higher still, at £1,499.99.

The prices at each point in time are summarized below.

Date Price (GBP) Source
October 2025 959.99 Price history reported by OC3D
July 2026 1,169.99 Price history reported by OC3D
October 28, 2026 1,439.99 Price reported by OC3D
At time of writing 1,499.99 Overclockers UK listing price (incl. VAT)

OC3D cites PCPartPicker UK as the source of the historical price data. We have not independently verified the underlying PCPartPicker UK data, so the three earlier figures in the table are based on OC3D's reporting. We were able to confirm that the current Overclockers UK price includes value-added tax, but OC3D does not state whether the historical prices it published include tax. This should be kept in mind when making comparisons.

The rate of increase also depends on the period compared. From £1,169.99 in July 2026 to the reported £1,439.99 on October 28, the increase is £270, or about 23.1%. Comparing the current listing price of £1,499.99 with £959.99 in October of the previous year, the difference is £540, an increase of about 56.3%.

The product we checked is the PNY RTX 5080 Triple Fan, product code GRA-PNY-05157, and the sales page shows it as "in stock." The difference from the price OC3D reported is £60, but we could not confirm when or why the price changed. We therefore cannot conclude that the price was raised by £60 after OC3D's report. In any case, the current listed price is far above the price reported for October of the previous year. That said, these results show only the price movement of one specific product in the UK, and do not represent the rate of increase for the RTX 5080 overall or for the Japanese market.

RTX 5090 at around £7,000 and still in stock

The higher-end RTX 5090 is also confirmed to be selling at an extremely high price in the UK. The Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 Solid OC listed at Overclockers UK was priced at £6,989.99 including VAT when we checked. Its product code is GRA-ZTC-04048, and it is also shown as "in stock." At least on this sales page, the card is not out of stock and unavailable; rather, it is listed for sale at an extremely high price.

NVIDIA's suggested retail price for the RTX 5090 in the UK is £1,799, so the selling price of this Zotac product is about 3.9 times higher. Note, however, that this compares NVIDIA's baseline price with the selling price of a custom-designed Zotac product. The multiple reflects the gap between the suggested retail price and the actual selling price, and does not mean the Zotac card has risen 3.9-fold since its launch.

OC3D emphasizes how hard the RTX 5090 is to obtain, but the retailer listing we checked shows that at least some products are listed in stock at high prices. Still, a single product at a single store is not enough to judge overall UK stock levels or the lowest available price. We also checked only the price and stock indication on the product page; we did not verify that an order would actually be accepted and shipped.

If you choose the RTX 5080, mind the 16GB of VRAM

The suggested retail price of the RTX 5080 in the UK is £909. The PNY product's price of £1,499.99 is £590.99, or about 65.0%, above that. NVIDIA also explains that actual selling prices may differ from the suggested retail price. A large gap between PNY's custom-designed product and NVIDIA's baseline price does not mean NVIDIA raised the price of the RTX 5080 across the board.

If you are considering buying an RTX 5080 instead of the expensive RTX 5090, you also need to pay attention to GPU memory capacity. According to NVIDIA's official specifications, the RTX 5080 has 16GB of GDDR7 memory, while the RTX 5090 has 32GB of GDDR7. The PNY RTX 5080 and Zotac RTX 5090 we checked have 16GB and 32GB configurations, respectively.

For uses that require more than 16GB of VRAM, such as running AI models or GPU processing of large datasets, the RTX 5080 may not be a substitute for the RTX 5090. Rather than choosing simply because the price is lower, you should check the memory capacity your actual workload requires. At the same time, the difference in VRAM capacity alone cannot be used to judge the difference in processing performance between the two products.

OC3D says the cause of the price increase has not been made clear. It mentions possible links to supply shortages and demand from AI servers in China, but these are raised only as possibilities, and a causal relationship with the price rises has not been confirmed. The selling prices and stock indications we checked do not allow us to conclude that any specific factor caused the increase.

If you are considering buying an RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 in Japan, you should not apply the roughly 50% increase reported in the UK directly to the domestic market. Check the tax-inclusive prices and stock status in Japan for the model you plan to buy, and choose with the VRAM capacity you need in mind.
