Quantum Batteries Face a Trade-Off: Faster Collective Charging Makes Power Less Reliable
In PRX Quantum, Brij Mohan of the University of Oulu and three co-authors show theoretically that in closed quantum batteries, fluctuations in work and power cannot both be made small at once. Collective charging, which interacts all cells together, raises power but lowers its reliability, while charging with mid-range interactions offers a possible compromise.
