It's still fresh in our memory that dummy units of the standard iPhone 16 model leaked, revealing new discoveries about its color variations and design. Now, the well-known leaker who shared that information, Sonny Dickson, has followed up by releasing images of what are said to be iPhone 16 Pro Max dummy units. Notably, this raises the likelihood that a significantly darker "Black Titanium" color—darker than any previous Pro model—will make an appearance, potentially marking a comeback for black as a color option.
The rumored new color for the iPhone 16 Pro Max is nowhere to be seen
The images released by Dickson show three iPhone 16 Pro Max dummy units in different colors. These colors are as follows:
- White Titanium: Maintains the same beautiful white finish as previous models.
- Natural Titanium: An option for users who prefer a more neutral tone.
- Black Titanium: This is the color drawing the most attention, as it appears to be a much darker shade than the iPhone 15 Pro's "Black Titanium"—closer to a true black.
Interestingly, the "Rose Titanium" color that had been mentioned in previous rumors is not included in this leak. Multiple sources, including analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, had predicted a four-color lineup for the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max consisting of Natural Titanium, Rose Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium, but only three of these colors can be confirmed in Dickson's images.

Regarding the absence of Rose Titanium, it's possible that Apple has not yet finalized the details of this new color. Since no gold finish has been offered since the iPhone 15 series, Rose Titanium is expected to serve as the titanium equivalent of gold.
Also, since these dummy units are meant to show the external dimensions of the product for case and accessory manufacturers, the appearance of the lenses within the camera module may differ from the actual product. The real iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to feature a tetraprism periscope zoom lens, but this detail is not reflected in the dummy units.
Furthermore, past leaks have also suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro Max's display size may be expanded to 6.9 inches. If true, this would make it the largest iPhone to date.
That said, this information is still just a leak, and we'll need to wait for Apple's official announcement for confirmation. With the iPhone 16 series launch still more than a month away, it's entirely possible that changes could still be made to the final design and specifications. Still, the appearance of a deeper black color option is likely to be an appealing choice for many users.
