US Achieves 99.9999% Si-28 Purity, Rebuilding Domestic Isotope Supply Chain for Quantum Semiconductors
The US Department of Energy has announced manufacturing technology for high-purity silicon and germanium gases that eliminate nuclear spins—a noise source in quantum computers—to an extreme degree. By completing the process from isotope enrichment to deposition-ready gases entirely within the United States, the effort aims to improve quantum device performance and strengthen the supply chain.
