Apple's next flagship model, the "iPhone 17 Pro," has long been rumored to feature a horizontal "camera bar" instead of the traditional square camera bump. This time, well-known leaker Jon Prosser has published rendering images on YouTube based on information he claims to have obtained from multiple sources. Will this design actually reflect the final product design?
Camera Design Overhaul, Shifting to a Horizontal Bar Shape?
YouTuber Jon Prosser (Front Page Tech) has released rendering images of the new camera design for the iPhone 17 Pro, based on information he says he obtained from multiple sources. According to Prosser, the iPhone 17 Pro will retain three camera lenses but will change the housing for them from the traditional square bump to a horizontal "camera bar."
The lenses are arranged in a triangular configuration on the left side of the bar, while the LED flash, microphone, and LiDAR sensor are lined up vertically on the right side. This design bears some resemblance to the camera bar on the Google Pixel 9 series, though the lens arrangement differs.
Prosser claims to have personally seen the device, suggesting that this design may be close to the final version.
Rumors of Two-Tone Color and Weight Reduction
Prosser also asserts that the iPhone 17 Pro will adopt a two-tone color design, with the camera bar section being a darker shade than the back panel. Furthermore, it has been clarified that the "two-tone" appearance, which was misunderstood in earlier reports, actually refers to a solid-colored back panel with a darker-toned camera bar—not a two-tone back panel itself. Additionally, there are reports suggesting the iPhone 17 Pro will be lighter than the current model.
Dynamic Island May Shrink in Size
Beyond the camera, another potential change is a smaller Dynamic Island. According to leaked information from leaker Digital Chat Station, a new technology called "meta-lens" could shrink the Face ID module, potentially resulting in a smaller Dynamic Island as well.
Doubts Raised Over Credibility
On the other hand, some have raised doubts about the credibility of Prosser's leaked information. Wesley Hilliard of AppleInsider has pointed out issues with the accuracy of Prosser's past leaks and his sources, arguing that this design is unrealistic and inconsistent with Apple's traditional design philosophy.

That said, it's worth noting that multiple sources are suggesting similar design changes. Apple has a history of making significant changes to the iPhone's design, so the adoption of a camera bar is certainly within the realm of possibility.
Still, honestly, this design isn't particularly attractive—the elongated camera bar design has an undeniably stretched-out feel to it. If this turns out to be accurate, it would be a bit disappointing.
