Steering Electrons Without Voltage: 'Electron Lighthouse' Controls Trajectories Using Only Light
A research team led by the University of Michigan has developed a technology that controls the direction of electron motion using only quantum interference of light, without applying any voltage. By interfering two-photon and three-photon absorption pathways, they generated bullet-like currents unaffected by impurity scattering, and succeeded in freely changing the current's direction simply by manipulating the polarization of light.
