Diamond Melts at 1 Trillion Pascals, With No Clear Signal of the BC8 Phase
Under shock compression at the trillion-pascal scale, microcrystalline diamond melted at roughly 7,300 K without leaving a clear diffraction signature of the BC8 phase. We unpack the detection limits and a conditional prediction of a threefold fusion yield gain.
